This is my first blog post here and I will be honest I have conflicted feelings as to how Tantra is being presented. I feel I need to share what I have learned about Tantra bodywork and contribute in my small way, especially as it applies to Tantra. I am very knowledgeable about Tantra massage and the trends in that area.
For the last 10 years I have bene practicing Tantra massage and it has been a great experience for me and for my clients. I have not had any bad experiences. Two or three were less than ideal, but most are really good. The client learns a lot and I enjoy sharing my knowledge and expertise.
I want to address what I have noticed, which is a misunderstanding of Tantra and associated bodywork, which can go by erotic massage. First, I am going to list the key elements of Tantra bodywork as expressed in a massage:
1-Everything that takes place is based on informed consent between adults
2-Tantra Bodywork is not sex work.
3-Tantra Bodywork is meant to access deep levels of relaxation and a complete letting go of stress in both the mind and body.
4-Breath and learning new ways to connect to the breath is taught and used during a massage or bodywork session
5-The client should learn ways to deepen their connection to pleasure and to find a mind/body connection.
6-Safety and cleanliness should be a given.
7-Mediatation is presented along with a corresponding chakra system
8-The purpose of Tantra is study sacred lovemaking. At the very least it should normalizing
the sexual experience.
9-Tantra can help resolve ED, PE, delayed orgasm, and lack of intensity.
10-Emotionally Tantra helps resolve shame, lack of knowledge about the body, and strives to make pleasure a normal aspect of life.
